Do you love the gorgeous fall colors of New England? Do you enjoy visiting cities steeped in history, such as Boston, or the museums and Broadway shows found in NYC? How about being emersed in all things French as you walk the streets of Quebec City, Canada, the largest and older walled city in North America? Do you enjoy learning about how your ancestors came to America (maybe through Ellis Island), astronomy, dance, great theater? Or maybe you just love great food, white glove service and being pampered. If so, plan to come with us (virtually) as we bring you along next week (with our group of 72) on our 14-night “Fall Colors” cruise aboard the iconic Queen Mary 2, September 23, 2022 – October 7, 2022.
We sail out of New York harbor, right under the Statue of Liberty and past Ellis Island where our great, great grandparents arrived from Europe to the New World. I am really excited to see that view! Fun fact- if you had family that came through Ellis Island in the day, there is an 80% chance they arrived on a Cunard Ocean liner (like the Queen Mary 2 which, as of today, is the only true “ocean liner” currently sailing.
Our ports of call include: NYC, Boston, Sydney, Quebec City, Saguenay, Sept-Iles, and Halifax, Nova Scotia. We will be visiting several quaint fishing villages and the gorgeous fjords near the St. Lawrence River. The vibrant fall colors should be peaking during our cruise which makes us very happy.
An additional note, the beloved Queen Elizabeth was the godmother of this ship. Therefore, there will be several events onboard to honor her life and service. We feel grateful to experience this and pay our respects in the memory book that will be onboard ship.
The Queen Mary 2 is the only true “ocean Liner” in service today. And yes, there is a distinction between a cruise ship and an ocean liner. I love history and this ship has plenty of that! There is a long hallway onboard of portraits of all the famous people who sailed on the original Queen Mary- Churchill, the Kennedys, Cary Grant, and Grace Kelly to name a few.
Do you love to read? It has the largest, most elegant library at sea- 2 stories tall, over 10,000 volumes and an afternoon tea service. I plan to find a great novel, a cozy corner with a view of the ocean and enjoy a cup of tea and a scone during our voyage. The QM2 also has a planetarium (imagine the stars in the night sky with no light pollution!) and shows led by an astronomer.
If you love dressing up and a little dancing, you will enjoy the four Gala events held during this 14-night cruise, and dancing to the music provided by the 17-piece orchestra. Yes, John has his tux and I have my ballgowns and a flapper costume (one of the galas is a Roaring 20’s Night).
We hope you will follow along and enjoy our posts of scenes aboard ship and our ports of call in all the fabulous fall colors. I’ll be posting pictures on our Instagram and Facebook page and John will be posting videos on our Facebook page and our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/AdventureAwaitsWorldTravel

One of the 3 different Afternoon Tea experiences aboard the Queen Mary 2. In addition to the main one offered in the Queen Room with all the pomp and circumstance as the white gloved waiters parade into the room with the tea trays on their shoulders as music is played. The other 2 Afternoon Teas offered are a Godiva Chocolates Afternoon Tea and a Champagne Afternoon Tea.
